Summer Term 2010
It's been a really busy summer for all the children in
Year 6. We worked hard towards our end of year assessments and have done well.
Our topic this term has been 'The Victorians'. We have really immersed ourselves and
found out what it was like to be a poor child in Victorian times when we had a visit
from the Treehouse Theatre company who did a 'Play in a Day' with us. We also
had to take part in Victorian school lessons - very different from lessons today
ad our teachers were much stricter .
As part of our Victorian topic, most of the children went
on our Residenatial visit to Ironbridge in Shropshire where the Industrial Revolution
took place. We had a really great week! We visited Blists Hill Victorian Town, decorated
tiles at Jackfield Tile Museum and made clay faces at Coalport China Works! On the
way home, we visited Cadbury World and brought home lots of chocolate.
It has been a
great year and we wish the children luck as they head off to their secondary schools!
We will miss them!
